Shook & Fletcher traces its roots back to 1901.
The Shook & Fletcher family of companies started operating over 120 years ago. Initially, we served Alabama’s booming steel production facilities by suppling iron, coal, coke, brick, and other manufactured products. In 1949, Shook & Fletcher entered the commercial and industrial insulation market and Shook & Fletcher Insulation Co. was born. In 1967, employees of Shook & Fletcher, including Wayne W. Killion Sr., bought the company. For over 50 years, Shook & Fletcher has been family-owned and operated. During this time, we have grown into one of the largest family-owned insulation distributors in the country.
120 Years Later, Our People are Still Our Greatest Strength
A lot has changed in the past 120 years, but one thing that hasn’t is our focus on employing quality people who provide excellent service.
We strive to be a company where our vision and values are shared by all daily. We believe as a third-generation family-owned business, we’re the choice employer and distributor for industrial insulation. We offer our clients a better, flexible partnership with a personal approach. Our clients can relax because we have earned their trust, and that is, ultimately, the reason they choose to do business with us.
Although running a successful business is very important to us, we also understand the importance of investing in our profession and our community. Shook & Fletcher is an active member of the communities it serves, and we have a long-standing history of involvement in the insulation industry. That history includes having two employees serve as President of the National Insulation Association (NIA) and seven employees serve as President of the Southeastern Insulation Contractors Association (SEICA). Shook & Fletcher has a long history of supporting our community, including support of the United Way of Central Alabama, the Salvation Army, and Birmingham-Southern College. Our current philanthropic focus includes support of the ALS Association of Alabama and the UAB School of Medicine.
How does a company tracing its roots back to 1901 stay relevant? Easy… it’s the strength of our people. Our employees go above and beyond and are shining examples of efficiency and quality. Because we have such a great team we wanted to come together and reflect on what makes our team so great. During that period of reflection, we were able to name our core values. The legacy of our company can easily be seen by looking at our core values. Our guiding values are: Integrity, Excellence, Professionalism, Passion, and Teamwork.
